I'm primarily a self-taught artist, studying many artists from their books. My original inspiration was the American oil painter Robert Wood, and I've been influenced by French and American Impressionism.
Although I've been oil painting since 1968, plein air painting has been my focus for 20 years. Plein air means the painting is created outside in front of the subject. I like to breathe in the atmosphere as I try to capture it. The passion for this technique led to my founding the Suwannee Valley Plein Air Painters.
I sell my artwork directly and at various galleries and shops. My paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, including Hawaii and as far away as England.
